I was introduced to clay nearly fifty years ago while at Dunedin Teachers College but it was only when I moved to Oamaru a few years later that I started to get serious about potting. After a period of time at Ceramic 44 I decided to establish my own pottery studio out at Weston with a large 15cu ft electric kiln in our basement.  Through the ‘80s and 90’s I produced domestic ware for what seemed to be an insatiable market.  All this and teaching too until it became necessary to halt pottery production and concentrate on teaching.  However since retiring I have re-joined Ceramic 44 (now known as Pottery on Tyne) where I am working with white mid-fire clays and colourful glazes.
