Cloth Doll Artist (Dolls with Attitude)
Creating three-dimensional cloth figures allows me to express my identity, values, and curiosity. My creative interests—writing, drawing, sewing, tutoring, and cloth doll pattern design—all converge in this deeply personal art form.
After attending two foundational workshops in 1990, I taught myself the skills I needed.
What began as a form of grief therapy soon blossomed into a passionate pursuit of cloth doll artistry—an outlet that continues to nourish my creativity and spirit.
Through blogging, teaching workshops, and engaging with online and social media communities, I’ve connected with fellow doll-makers, designers, and collectors around the world.
These interactions have enriched my practice and deepened my appreciation for the art.
My designs often reflect character, attitude, or stance, drawing inspiration from wordplay and theatrical themes. I find joy in the process itself—less attached to the final product than to the challenge of solving each “doll problem.”
This problem-solving drive fuels my desire to share what I’ve learned, whether through pattern design or teaching others.
